E-Pack Rat

I am the worst kind of pack rat. I am an E-Pack Rat. It’s the kind of thing where you have junk collecting on your kitchen table that you know you need to go through because half of it will get tossed, but you just don’t wanna do it.

Yeah, I’m like that but the internet is my kitchen table. I have so many various sites that I’m connected to, have logins for, email subscription lists…it really goes on and on. If I just sat down and went through everything, I’d be deleting my name from tons of sites. Twitter? Yeah, I don’t twitter, but I have an account! Some benefit email list? Yup. Ricky Gervais fan list? Sure thing. I have so much internet junk piled throughout the world that I probably don’t even remember half of it.

So why tumblr? Well, ever since that magical wonder that is Google Mail came along my life has been on Easy St. Well, Ok, more like Moderately More Organized St. I label all of my emails, I even have a separate work address that I can check through my personal address. And then…Google Reader. Oh lordy was that amazing to get into. I had a bookmark folder of lots of blogs that I found interesting. The trouble was going through all of them one by one, figuring out which posts I’ve read, having to go back several pages to get caught up, so on and so forth. So I looked at Google Reader where it put everything onto a nice, neat little list with wonderful numbers next to each site name letting me know how many posts I got to look forward to reading.

Tumblr to me is in that organizational vein. It’s simple, collected, groups other internet things together in one pretty little package. I still have my livejournal which doesn’t mesh well with the rest of the internet like I want it to, but I’m here and hopefully it’s to stay!
